Batik Boy Ruko

Inspired by the Indonesian idea of rumah toko, Batik Boy Ruko continues what started with intimate Batik Boy Radio sessions from home, translated into a physical space bringing together culture, music, interior, and art under one roof.

The philosophy behind the space is Home of Nusantara — rooted in the cultures, craftsmanship, materials, and creative voices of the Indonesian archipelago, where global influences meet local culture.

Located in Cemagi, Bali, the ruko was intentionally designed to feel lived-in and welcoming rather than purely retail focused, functioning both as a store and the new home of Batik Boy Radio.

Throughout the ruko, ikat textiles from Sumba, ceramics from Java, bamboo, traditional carpets, rough concrete floors, and weathered steel elements are layered with objects sourced across Indonesia and beyond, creating a space that feels lived-in, welcoming, and connected to its surroundings in Cemagi.

Many of the objects, furniture pieces, garments, and collectibles found throughout the space are available through the ruko, blurring the line between interior, store, and home.

Batik Boy Radio

What started as intimate kitchen sessions evolved into Batik Boy Radio: a platform rooted in Indonesian heritage and global influences, curated by Davey Massikki, where sound, culture, and community connect.

Guided by the philosophy The Sound of Nusantara, Batik Boy Radio creates space for deep listening, personal expression, and cultural exchange, bringing together artists and selectors whose sounds move beyond trends and genres.

Today, that same spirit lives inside Batik Boy Ruko. Functioning as the new home of Batik Boy Radio, the space regularly hosts live sessions recorded directly from the ruko itself.

Batik Boy

From DJ Identity to Brand

Alongside the radio, Batik Boy evolved from a DJ identity into a cultural brand, translating traditional batik into one-of-a-kind pieces in contemporary silhouettes, alongside radio merchandise and a small collection designed for everyday use.

The batik garments are created using traditional batik textiles sourced across Indonesia, including both hand-drawn batik tulis and hand-stamped batik cap. Rather than working from fabric rolls, each piece is shaped around a single textile, allowing the original patterns, imperfections, and placement of the fabric itself to guide the final garment.

As Batik Boy continues to travel across Indonesia and beyond, the collection will continue to grow with newly sourced textiles, objects, furniture, and stories discovered along the way. Future collaborations with artists, makers, and brands will further shape the evolving identity of the ruko.
